The most important thing for you to know about us is that we operate as a community of Jesus followers. All decisions that are made for and about the co-op are done from a place of faith in God and obedience to Christ.
In short, we are a Christian Homeschool Co-Op.
Our community is diverse in individual beliefs and doctrines. The way we walk out our faiths look different as well. Some believe in the active gifts of the Holy Spirit, some don't; we all have different ways that we parent our children; some of us attend large churches while others attend home fellowships. What unites us is the simple truth of what defines us as Christians (see Apostle's Creed below), and all the other things are opportunities for rich conversation and allowing our beliefs to become transformed by the Word of God.
We do not want to surround ourselves with people that are identical to ourselves! We grow and are matured by participating in the greater Body of Christ.
There is one major belief outside of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that we all share -
life is better in community.
This co-op exists for the principle purpose of providing a place for families to come together and learn how to do life in Christ together. We are committed to linking arms and supporting one another in all of life's joys and sorrows. We are committed to maintaining friendships even in moments that are challenging.
We don't want this co-op to be seen as "just one more thing to join." We are truly working to build a community of families that desire to love each other the same way that Jesus loved among his disciples when He walked this earth. We want this co-op to be a group of believers that cause one another to look to our Father for life.
It is because we put a high value on community life that we require all elementary-level families to be represented on campus by a parent or guardian, and that all adults have a role throughout the day in the education process. Parents that have teaching roles are given extra support and training as needed. There are ways to be involved for all personality types: there is grace for introverts to need space and opportunities for extroverts to engage socially. We have need for assistants just as much as teachers, and people that love humans of all sizes and ages!
This co-op also exists to provide high-quality educational opportunities. Our structure allows for individual families to have the freedom to interpret for themselves what homeschool should look like at home, while still providing classes on Co-Op Days that are full of vibrant learning activities. Some might call us a "hybrid co-op", because we offer some classes that are academic in nature and others that are more enrichment in nature.
Participating in a co-op allows for greater engagement with many subjects - doing collective hands-on activities is financially and logistically more attainable than doing these things individually at home.
If you are feeling the call to live in community with other believers that are figuring out how to educate their children from home, but you don't know how you would fit in.... please reach out! We would to talk to you in person about how you might fit into our community!
You can use the contact form on this website, and Christa will respond within a day or two.
Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
*that is, the true Christian church of all times and all places
If you would NOT call yourself a Believer in Christ, here's what you need to know:
- You are WELCOME! It is not a requirement to have a saving relationship with Jesus in order to join our co-op. It would be important, however, for you to understand that our co-op is built on our belief in Jesus, and we will never shy away from that in how we interact with anyone.
- It would never be acceptable for any individual at any co-op events to speak in opposition to the Christian faith (except in situations where students are learning debate/logic/apologetics/etc.).
- We want to point you to Jesus. We are always glad to have conversations with you about the Bible and faith, but it would never be appropriate to promote religious beliefs or values that do not align with the Bible (66 books - OT, NT).
- All teachers must be believers. Teachers will be assigned to instruct in classes that fit their gifts, and since most of our class material is gospel-centered it should only be taught by someone that believes the Bible.
